Lufthansa Expands Lounge Offering at Frankfurt Airport T1

Lufthansa have opened the new ‘Panorama Lounge’ in addition to their two existing business lounges in the Terminal 1A in which to cope with high demand.

The lounge adds 1,100 square metres of Lufthansa lounge space to the Terminal 1A Schengen area.

The Panorama Lounge is opposite Gate A26 and has a main area with a food and drink buffet as well as smaller working rooms, a relaxation room and four showers

Opening hours consist Monday to Friday between 0600 and 2100.

Fatal Train Collision - Turkey

News agencies are reporting that at least nine people have died and 47 people have been injured in a high speed train collision in Turkey.

The accident occurred at about 06:30 local time (03:30 GMT). The train was travelling from Ankara to the city of Konya in western Turkey when it crashed at the Marsandiz railway station, around 8km from Ankara's main station.  A large number of emergency workers arrived at the scene shortly after the collision, which occurred in snowy conditions.  Search and rescue efforts are under way.

KLM Unveils Amsterdam Crown Lounge

KLM have unveiled its new Crown Lounge at Amsterdam Schiphol. The lounge has been only partially opened and passengers will find it located between the airport’s E and F piers.

This lounge is aimed at KLM’s premium travellers who are flying long-haul.

The airline’s EVP customer experience Boet Kreiken reported that, “KLM aims to offer the most attractive lounge in the world; a destination in itself.”

“The new lounge concept ties in seamlessly with KLM’s strategy which is to provide the ultimate hospitality experience, innovation and perfect customer service.”

Priority Pass Announces Over 800 New Offers for Members

Lounge and airport experience provider Priority pass has introduced more than 800+ offers, in 146 airports across 32 countries, regardless of the membership type.

Discounts are available across a whole range of dining, spa and retail with the addition of new upgrade options and gifts.

To use Priority Pass, members must generate an offer code through the Priority Pass website or app and present it to the retailer. Different offers will be available dependent on the member’s location.

American Airlines Launches Biometric Boarding Trial at LAX

American Airlines has become the latest carrier to launch a biometric boarding in which will span a 90-day trial. It is in operation at LAX’s Terminal 4, for customers travelling on selected international departures.

American Airlines reported that “When customers begin the boarding process, the facial recognition programme will scan an image of their face and send it to an existing cloud-based CBP database”.

British Airways Announces Two New Heathrow Routes

British Airways will launch two new routes from Heathrow to Ljubljana in Slovenia and Montpellier in France next summer.

Sean Doyle, BA Director of Network and Alliances, said: “We are gearing up for an exciting summer next year as we add more routes to our extensive network.

“We’re always developing our leisure offering and are committed to giving our customers even more choice of destinations at competitively low prices.”
