Emirates A380-exclusive Melbourne route

Emirates’ will introduce an all-A380 service from 25th March 2018 when it upgrades its third daily flight from Dubai to Melbourne.

The upgrade will add 945 seats a week to the route, representing a 10% increase in capacity and meaning Emirates passengers can enjoy even more seamless “A380 to A380” connections via its hub in Dubai to 18 points in the UK and Europe.

In addition, together with partner airline Qantas’ new B787 London to Melbourne service via Perth, beginning on 24th March 2018, passengers now have even more options from the UK and Europe.

Travel Advice: Unaccompanied minors require letter of authorisation

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has updated the travel advice for children travelling alone or without a parent or legal guardian to Portugal. Portuguese Border Control (SEF) advise that a child under the age of 18 who is travelling to Portugal alone or without a parent or legal guardian should either: be met at the airport or point of entry by their parent or guardian, or carry a letter of authorisation to travel from their parent or guardian. The letter should name the adult in Portugal who will be responsible for them during their stay.

Delta Airlines have introduced a new industry-leading service via mobile phones which allows customers to keep track of their checked bags on its flights. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) bag tags are added to all checked luggage enabling customers to receive real-time updates on the whereabouts of their luggage from check-in to the arrival carousel.

Qatar Airways launch flights from Cardiff to Doha and beyond

Qatar Airways will launch direct daily flights from its hub in Doha, Qatar to Cardiff Airport commencing 1st May 2018. The new service will be the first regular direct long-haul flight linking Wales and South West England to a major global hub in the Gulf region. It will allow business and leisure travellers to fly directly from their local airport via Doha to a choice of over 150 destinations across the globe in Asia, Australasia, Africa and the Middle East.

Free Wi-Fi for Virgin Trains West Coast passengers

Virgin Trains plan to offer free faster Wi-Fi on their West Coast routes later this year. The planned refit will significantly improve the on-board equipment, and allow the service to be extended to all passengers. The £7.5 million investment is part of a new deal agreed with the Government, which will see Virgin Trains continue to run the West Coast franchise through to at least 31st March 2019.

British Airways transforms Club World

In late 2017, British Airways chief executive, Alex Cruz announced a £400 million investment into the long-haul Club World business-class product, with improvements to food and sleep made priorities, followed by the roll-out of onboard Wi-Fi and an entirely new seat design from 2019. Aircraft flying the London Heathrow to New York JFK route were chosen as the first to feature the upgrades and British Airways 6000 Club World seats across all other routes will be upgraded by the end of 2018.
