Virgin Atlantic has expanded its codeshare deal with Virgin Australia, creating more travel options between the UK and Australia – and giving customers the opportunity to travel around the world purely on Virgin airlines.
Virgin Atlantic passengers will be able to buy tickets now for flights from 2nd July flying to Sydney, connecting in Hong Kong onto Virgin Australia. The new Sydney service is in addition to Melbourne codeshare flights launched earlier this year.
Virgin Australia operates up to 18 flights per week between Australia and Los Angeles and daily services between Melbourne and Hong Kong. UK passengers have the option of three daily flights from London Heathrow to Los Angeles and one daily to Hong Kong.
As part of the codeshare arrangement passengers travelling to Los Angeles can connect onto Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, and this expansion will mean further domestic connections will be available to Cairns, Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide, Hobart and the Gold Coast.
Virgin Atlantic chief commercial officer Shai Weiss said: "The new deal will create more travel options between the UK and Australia. It offers customers the security and ease of booking through a codeshare, as well as through check-in and a single bag drop for the entire journey."
