The HM Passport Office has extended its passport renewal service to those aged 16 or over. The most convenient way to renew the document online was previously only available to those aged 26 and over.
The move follows a Passport Office survey that found, with more than 300,000 16-25 year-olds a year renewing their passports that 63% of people would prefer to use the online method.
The service is a key part of the Home Office’s drive to transform the way they deliver services through digitisation. It is designed to improve efficiency and convenience by providing a modern and secure service to millions of passport holders and applicants.
The service means applicants can upload a suitable digital photo from their smartphone or tablet, making applying for a passport quick and simple. In total, the whole process takes 10 minutes on average.
