Liverpool Lime Street station three week closure

Liverpool Lime Street station will be closed from Saturday 30th September until Sunday 22nd October 2017 to allow Network Rail to remodel the platforms, replace tracks and upgrade the signalling. As a result, both Liverpool South Parkway and Liverpool Moorfields Station are expected to be busier than usual.

When complete, the refurbishment project will enable an extra three services per hour in and out of Lime Street station, including new direct services to Scotland. Longer platforms will also allow bigger trains, with more space for passengers, in and out of the station.

Introducing the SAS New Experience

SAS Scandinavian Airlines are upgrading their fleet with 30 new A320neo aircraft, the most efficient and environmentally-friendly aircraft for mid-range travel. The A320neo burns 15-20% less fuel per flight compared to the aircraft used today, and will therefore help SAS achieve its sustainability goals.

In addition to 30 brand new aircraft, the remaining 70 planes will be refitted with the new cabin between 2017 and 2019. To make the journey even more comfortable, the seats in the new cabin will be equipped with comfort cushions, a further recline and a new 30" seat width.

Star Alliance launches new Chicago Connection Service

Star Alliance's new Connection Service providing proactive help for customers with tight connections has launched at Chicago O’Hare International Airport. The Connection Service springs into action if an incoming flight is delayed. Norwegian Air UK launches Gatwick to Singapore route

From the 28th September 2017 Norwegian Air UK will offer low-cost flights to its first Asian destination, Singapore's Changi Airport. This will be the first long-haul service to be operated by Norwegian's UK-based subsidiary, Norwegian UK. Four weekly flights, increasing to five from 30th October 2017, will be operated on Norwegian's new 787 Dreamliner aircraft offering up to 344 seats in both economy and Premium cabins. Norwegian already offers flights from Gatwick to nine US destinations, including newly announced routes to Seattle and Denver.

Lufthansa announces new European destinations

Lufthansa's European network will expand this winter with seven new destinations added to their timetable. From Frankfurt, Pamplona will operate four times a week from 6th November and Genoa, Bari and Catania will operate three times a week from 29th October. From Munich, there will be daily flights to Nantes while Glasgow will be served four times a week. Santiago de Compostela is on the flight schedule every Sunday as an addition to the services on offer from Frankfurt.

Qatar Airways launch flights from Cardiff to Doha and beyond

Qatar Airways is to launch a daily flight from Cardiff Airport to its hub in Doha, Qatar, in 2018.  The new service will be the first regular direct long-haul flight linking Wales and South West England to a major global hub in the Gulf region. It will allow business and leisure travellers to fly directly from their local airport via Doha to a choice of over 150 destinations across the globe in Asia, Australasia, Africa and the Middle East. The new service from Cardiff will be the latest addition to a growing network of destinations that Qatar Airways serves across the UK and Ireland.

Air Canada expand international network from Vancouver

Air Canada will expand its international network from Vancouver with services to London Heathrow increased to twice-daily for summer 2018 and new services launching June 2018 to Paris and Zurich, and the start of year-round flights to Melbourne.

Air Canada's new routes will be operated on Boeing 787 Dreamliners featuring three cabins of service with enhanced definition individual on-demand personal entertainment offering a wide range of movies, short films, TV programs and audio selections at every seat throughout the aircraft.

Emirates fourth A380 on Sydney route

Emirates will introduce a fourth daily superjumbo service between Dubai and Sydney from 25th March 2018. The route increase is due to huge demand from customers and will be operated on the iconic and highly popular Emirates A380.
