More long-haul options for Scottish passengers with Virgin Atlantic and Flybe

Virgin Atlantic and Flybe have extended their partnership to offer Scottish customers all the advantages of Virgin's Manchester route network, making it easier to transfer to long-haul flights. Flybe's Glasgow to Manchester route is now included in their codeshare deal so passengers in Scotland can connect to and from Virgin Atlantic flights, with one boarding pass and have their bags checked through for the entire journey.

IMPORTANT TRAVEL UPDATE - if you are travelling to (or through) France

The Foreign & Commonwealth Office has released updated travel advice for those planning to visit, or transit through, France. Planned strike action has been announced by Air France and its subsidiaries to take place today (3rd April) and 7th April, SNCF trains between 3rd April and 28th June, and the Port of Calais on 5th April. Eurostar have been forced to cancel various services today and tomorrow to and from Paris, Lille and Brussels as french workers begin 3 months of on-going strikes.

Urgent Easter Travel Update: Find out if your plans could be affected.

It looks like it might bad news for anyone planning an Easter getaway as strike action by Air France staff along with widespread closures of the UK rail network, are set to cause major disruption over the bank holiday weekend. Tomorrow (Good Friday) will see the start of the Air France strike, after negotiations broke down between the company and unions representing pilots, cabin crew and ground staff. This will be the third strike in five weeks. The unions are demanding a 6 per cent increase in pay to compensate for what they say are several years of wage stagnation.

Revamp for British Airways Gatwick fleet

British Airways are introducing new long-haul seating and layout for the airline’s fleet of ten long-haul aircraft based at Gatwick. The World Traveller Plus cabin on British Airways Boeing 777's will be doubled from 24 to 52 seats, while Club World capacity will be cut from 40 to 32 seats. The new layouts will first appear on routes to Punta Cana, Cancun and Kingston from Winter 2018 then expanded across all 22 long-haul routes from Gatwick.

More choice to the US with Virgin Atlantic and Delta Air Lines

Joint venture partners Virgin Atlantic and Delta Air Lines are expanding their summer schedule to give customers a better choice of flights from the UK regions: London, Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast, to the US this summer.

Delta resumes the UK’s only direct seasonal services from London to Salt Lake City from 2nd April and to Portland, Oregon, from 4th May. Virgin Atlantic will re-introduce seasonal flights between Manchester and Las Vegas, San Francisco and Boston. Virgin will also treble the number of seats available between Belfast International and Orlando.
