In just four months the use of the British Airways Apple Watch app has quadrupled.

Travellers are embracing technology when travelling, so in response British Airways are introducing new scanners to make things quicker and easier for their customers.

BA passengers with the Apple Watch will be able to simply slide their wrist under the new ‘Scan and Go’ devices and hey presto! It will scan their boarding pass and print off their bag tags.

Sharm el-Sheikh Cancellations Update

All airlines are waiting for the British Government to announce when it will be safe for flights to Sharm el-Sheikh to operate. Regular passenger services from the UK have been suspended since the 5th November when it was discovered terrorists had smuggled a bomb onto a Russian holiday flight from the resort, causing it to crash.

EasyJet and Monarch have suspended flights until the 6th January in the expectation the Government will give them the go ahead to relaunch services shortly.

Travel Warning: Forth Bridge Closure

Travellers using the Forth Bridge face major disruption following a decision to close the Forth Road Bridge until the new year. Transport minister Derek Mackay said structural faults would take at least three weeks to repair and safety was 'paramount'.

Inspections last week found a 20mm-wide crack in a truss under the southbound carriageway close to the bridge's north tower. The 51-year-old bridge is due to be replaced by a new crossing in about 12 months. Repair work is weather dependent and would be followed by a further week of tests and inspections.

Edinburgh Airport welcomed passenger figures for the month of October with 1,004,439 passengers through its doors - meaning a sixth consecutive month with over one million passengers. October’s passenger figures show a 9.7 per cent increase from the same month last year and reach similar levels to the height of summer of two years ago when in July 2013 Edinburgh Airport hit its first 1 million passenger month.

It has been confirmed that South Africa, India and Colombia are imposing this requirement, among other countries. Work Commences on the Hampton by Hilton London Stansted Airport Hotel

Hilton is set to open a new Hampton by Hilton Hotel at London Stansted Airport for summer 2017. The 357 bedroom hotel located on a two acre site next to the terminal building will be the largest Hampton by Hilton in Europe. The fifth hotel based at Stansted airport will cost £45 million to build and forms part of a larger investment by Stansted's parent company, MAG (Manchester Airports Group), with a £260 million venture to attract more passengers, airlines and long-haul services to the Essex airport.
