Emirates first A380 route from Birmingham

Emirates, the United Arab Emirates airline, will offer the A380 on regular flights from Birmingham Airport to Dubai from next March. The double-decker A380 will have 557 economy seats and 58 in business class.

From Private Suites and Shower Spas in First Class to flat-bed seats in Business Class to extra room and custom lighting in Economy Class, and inflight Wi-Fi throughout the aircraft, the Emirates A380 is as close as it comes to flying in your own private jet.

London to Johannesburg with Iberia Airlines

Iberia Airlines will fly from London to Johannesburg, via Madrid, from August 2016. The British Airways sister airline will fly three times a week, on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays with return flights operating on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Schedules are designed with London connections in mind. Iberia will use the A330-300 on the route, which can accommodate up to 36 passengers in business class and 242 in the economy.

Flybe’s new summer flights to France

Flybe will launch two new routes to Paris and Rennes in France from London City Airport next summer. Weekday flights to Paris Charles de Gaulle, operating on weekdays from March to October, have been timed for convenient day returns. Flights to Rennes, the capital of Brittany, will be operating from the 18th July to the 4th September every day except Saturdays. Flybe will operate a total of seven routes to and from London City Airport next summer offering up to 176 flights a week.

British Airways pre-order meals

British Airways premium cabin customers are now able to enjoy pre-order meals on board. Customers can view the menu for their upcoming mid-haul flight and select their main meal choice in advance. This completes the roll-out of pre-order and pre-paid meals on all long-haul and mid-haul flights outbound from London Heathrow. Customers can pre-book between 30 days and up to 24 hours before departure. The starter and dessert choice will continue to be taken on board. Those who choose not to pre-order will be asked for their meal preference on board as usual.

American Airlines launch new bag tracking service

Customers travelling with American Airlines can now track their baggage via their smartphone, tablet or laptop as soon as it is checked in. By entering their bag tag number or record locator, customers can find out exactly where their bags are through to when they reach the baggage carousel at their final destination. To use the free service, customers will need to visit aa.com/baggage , click ‘Track your Bags’ and enter their last name, bag tag number or record locator.

Additional Virgin Services to Havana, Las Vegas and Orlando

New e-Passport gates at London Heathrow Terminal 5

Fifteen of the newest generation e-Passport gates have now opened at London Heathrow Terminal 5, allowing arriving customers to get through the UK border more quickly. Automated e-Passport gates offer an alternative to conventional passport checks. Customers simply scan their e-Passport at the barrier. The system runs a face recognition check against the chip in their Passport and then, if they’re eligible to enter the UK, the gate will open automatically – all in a matter of seconds.
