Brisbane Airport to Host World First In-Terminal Cricket Match

The cricket match will be the first of its kind; the 20-over exhibition-style cricket match will be held within the airport terminal and is scheduled to take place on November 22nd in order to align with the start of the Indian Cricket Team’s Australia tour.

Former Australian cricket players, Brett Lee and Michael Kasprowicz will captain the two teams consisting of senior representatives from the India and Australia travel industries.

Flybe announces it’s up for Sale After Issuing Profit Warning

Just weeks after issuing a profit warning, the board of Flybe Group has begun a “comprehensive review” of the company’s strategic options as it looks to overcome challenges facing the airline industry – higher fuel prices, uncertain demand and a weaker pound.

Flybe dates back to 1979 and serves around 8 million passengers a year. The carrier is Europe’s largest regional airline and flies more UK domestic flights than any other. It currently operates over 200 routes serving 15 countries from 80 departure points in the UK and Europe.

Newcastle Airport Adds New Link to London City

It will be the first ever route between the northern city and London City Airport.

Newcastle International Airport has added a new twice-a-day direct service to London City Airport. It is available to book now and begins on Monday 7th January 2019 and will depart at 8:05am and at 5:50pm on weekdays, returning at 9:45am and 7:30pm, with a single evening Sunday flight.

LNER 'Seat Sensor' Tech Helps Passengers to Find Free Seats

British Airways to Increase Heathrow - Inverness Service

Since the relaunch of the route in 2016, this is the second time British Airways has increased the frequency of this journey.

The recent increase will see BA offer 16 flights per week instead of 10 flights, which they currently offer.  The additional services are scheduled to begin next summer between March 31st and October 26th 2019. This will include a twice daily service on weekdays, and three flights per day on Saturday and Sunday.

Birmingham Airports ambitious £500m expansion plan

The recently published draft Master Plan titled ‘The Midlands Gateway to the World’ for Birmingham airport includes a primary focus to increase capacity in order to “vastly improve the customer experience”.  The expansion plans are set see the airport reach its goal of becoming one of Europe’s leading regional airports.

The airport wants to increase traffic to 18 million passengers per year by 2033, a 40 percent increase on its current figure of 13 million.

Transpennine Express: Complimentary Travel to Armed Forces this Remembrance Weekend

On both Saturday 10th November and Sunday 11th November 2018, free travel will be provided to any serving members of the armed forces, veterans, cadets as well as volunteers selling poppies. This is to ensure that journeys to attend any Remembrance Day events are made simple and easy.

Loganair's Largest Expansion Programme in Edinburgh

Scottish regional carrier Loganair announced that they will add several new routes from Edinburgh as part of its summer schedule. The most significant for Scotland will be the first ever link between the capital and Islay Hebrides as this means easy access to/from Islay for global travellers.

In addition, Loganair will introduce regular year-round services to the Norwegian cities of Bergen and Stavanger and seasonal links between Edinburgh and Guernsey.
