Nadler Hotels to Open Flagship Covent Garden Hotel Next Month

Located in a 1907 Edwardian property, many of the building’s original features have been restored

Nadler Hotels will open its fifth property, The Nadler Covent Garden, which will be situated on the corner of Bedford Street and the Strand on 4 February 2019.

Air France Plans to Retire 'Joon' Brand

Air France has announced the integration of its Joon subsidiary into its main fleet, signalling the end of a brand which new chief executive Benjamin Smith described as “difficult to understand”.

Joon was launched in 2017 and marketed as a “millennial” carrier aimed at attracting a younger generation of passengers. At the time, Air France insisted Joon was not a low-cost airline and was instead focused on becoming “a lifestyle brand and a state of mind”.

Virgin Atlantic and Stobart Group Agree Takeover of UK Regional Carrier Flybe

Virgin Atlantic and Southend airport owner Stobart Group are to rescue troubled Flybe. They have made an offer which values its equity of £2.2m, considerably below its closing market capitalisation of £36m. Along with Cyrus Capital the airlines will create a new company Connect Airways, within which will sit Flybe, as well as Stobart Air and aircraft leasing business Propius.

Poll Findings May Result in a £2 Tourist Tax for Edinburgh

Plans to introduce a £2 tourist tax in Edinburgh have won strong support in a public consultation.

Some Scottish councils, led by Edinburgh, have called for powers to set levies on tourist accommodation.

Figures show 85% of respondents to a City of Edinburgh Council survey backed the move, including more than half of accommodation providers.

The eight-week City of Edinburgh Council poll received more than 2,500 responses into the proposed Transient Visitor Levy (TVL) of either 2% or £2 per room per night.

Record Breaking Year for Boeing Aircraft Deliveries in 2018

Boeing delivered 69 737 aicraft in December and set a new annual record of 806 deliveries in 2018, surpassing its previous record of 763 deliveries in 2017.

Demands for Action After ‘Drone Sighting’ at Heathrow

On Tuesday the 8th January reports state that a drone was spotted shortly after 5pm which caused departures to be promptly suspended as a precaution. They were resumed an hour later and the airport was fully operational by 10pm that evening.

This comes just weeks after flights from Gatwick were brought to a standstill when drones were sighted at the UK’s second busiest airport before Christmas – affecting more than 140,000 passengers and 1,000 flights.
