Multimillion pound extension plans revealed for Leeds Bradford Airport

Yorkshire's biggest airport has revealed its redevelopment plans to build a multi-million pound, three-storey extension to its terminal building. The extension will accommodate brand-new, larger departure gates, seating areas and new retail and food & beverage outlets.

The new addition is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2019, however the entire process, including enhancements and re-modelling, is not expected to be finished until summer 2020.

Over 1,245 flights cancelled in the US as Hurricane Florence reaches land

Continued travel disruption is expected in the wake of Hurricane Florence. Over 1,200 flights were cancelled prior to the hurricane as airports and airlines implemented emergency measures to protect passengers and aircraft. Some roads are still closed and travel plans may be disrupted due to storm damage and localised flooding. Airports began cancellations on Wednesday expecting normal service to be suspended until Saturday.

British Airways confirm upmarket DO&Co catering for all Heathrow flights

Heathrow’s largest airline British Airways, have confirmed major improvements to enhance the in-flight experience for their customers. This time, they are bringing gourmet dishes from the well-established high-end, Vienna-based caterer DO&Co, who already supply British Airway’s Club Europe and First Cabins.

If you’ve never heard of DO&Co, they are considered by many to be the Rolls Royce of the airport catering world. They are responsible for catering on other airlines, including Austrian Airlines which is renowned for its business class meals.

Etihad launch hand-baggage only fares, reducing the cost of travel

Etihad have now officially launched hand-baggage only fares across many of their destinations. This allows Economy Class passengers to purchase lower fares if no checked baggage is required.
Robin Kamark, Etihad chief commercial officer, stated: “After a successful trial of the ‘Deal Fare’ late last year, purchasing behaviour demonstrated guests appreciate having more choice and like to be able to select the travel option that best meets their needs.”

Weekend Rail Services Cancelled - The Greater Anglia Line (London Liverpool Street)

The Greater Anglia Line service (London Liverpool Street) will be affected by overhead line renewal works that will see weekend rail access suspended for up to three months. The disruption is scheduled to last until 25th of November 2018.

Harry and Meghan bring the ROYAL to the Royal Lancaster Hotel

Traveleads was delighted to learn that the Royal Lancaster Hotel had been chosen to host this year’s WellChild Awards.  Earlier this year we took some of our clients to stay at the Royal Lancaster Hotel where they were given the royal treatment throughout their stay.
