Air Canada's Premium Economy coming soon to North America

Air Canada will introduce Premium Economy Class and all the great perks that come with it on the 1st July 2017 on selected North American routes. Singapore Airlines - bringing Texas closer to Manchester.

More than 17,500 passengers travelled from Manchester to Texas last year. With no direct flights available travellers had to fly via London, or other connecting hubs. The new Singapore Airlines non-stop Manchester to Houston service has changed all of that, and now passengers have a direct gateway to the Lone Star State.

Cathay Pacific Hong Kong flights from Gatwick

Cathay Pacific will launch a new four-times-weekly service from London’s Gatwick Airport on the 2nd September 2016.

The new service will complement the airline’s current five-times-daily service to Heathrow Airport and create a total of 39 non-stop flights a week between Hong Kong and London, more than any other carrier.

The service from Gatwick’s South Terminal will be operated by a new state-of-the-art Airbus A350-900 in a four class configuration, to help meet growing demand from both business and leisure travellers between the UK and Asia Pacific region.

Will Qantas operate the first ever non-stop flight from UK to Australia?

Qantas will publish its first scheduled Dreamliner routes by the end of the year, with a direct service between London and Perth a distinct possibility.

The Australian national carrier is set to receive its first Boeing 787 – also known as the Dreamliner – in 2017, and will announce new routes for the plane later this year.
If the London to Perth service is given the go-ahead, it would rival the current longest flight in the world! (Emirates Dubai to Auckland service) which clocks up 8,819 miles, taking 17 hours and 15 minutes.

Etihad Airways daily Edinburgh flights resume

From the 1st May 2016 Etihad Airways non-stop service between Edinburgh and Abu Dhabi will return to a daily service connecting to over 100 destinations beyond. The route to the capital of the United Arab Emirates will be operated with an Airbus A330-200 aircraft, with a total of 22 seats in business class and 240 in economy.

Iberia Airlines launches flights to Tokyo and Shanghai

From October 2016 Iberia Airlines will operate three flights per week from Madrid to Tokyo-Narita airport, and also plan to launch a Shanghai route. On both routes Iberia will fly its latest aircraft, the twin-engine, wide-bodied Airbus A330-200, carrying up to 288 passengers, 19 in Business and 269 in Economy. The aircraft come factory-equipped with Iberia’s newly designed long-haul cabins. These will be the only non-stop flights linking Japan with Spain, providing a total of some 90,000 seats per year.

Can Airbus create a time machine?

Time travel was always the stuff of Science fiction until Concorde came along and suddenly there it was! Not exactly Star-Trek time travel, but Concorde offered the opportunity to leave London at 9am and arrive in New York at around 8am - in theory landing an hour before you’d taken off.

Wizz Air Completes Billion Dollar Airbus Deal

Wizz Air have agreed to a deal worth $13.7 billion to purchase 110 Airbus A321neo aircraft to enable replacement of older aircraft and to expand the current fleet for planned growth on routes throughout central and eastern European, for delivery between 2019 and 2024. The new Airbus A321neos will provide new cabin innovations, the latest engine technology and other efficiency improvements leading lower fares and an enhanced customer offering and experience. The airline also has an additional 48 Airbus aircraft on order which will enter service in November 2015.
