Virgin's twice daily London to Johannesburg service

Virgin Atlantic has announced a second daily service between London Heathrow and Johannesburg OR TAMBO Airport. The new service will begin flying in winter 2018 with the first flight departing on 28th October 2018. The new flights are now on sale and will be operated by Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. With two flights per day to South Africa’s biggest city, Virgin will carry over 300,000 customers annually – helping to support tourism and trade between the two nations.

Qantas' 17 hour flight to Perth makes history

Qantas has added to its list of aviation firsts, with the national carrier making history as it touched down after the inaugural non-stop flight from London to Perth.

The 14,498-kilometre service will be the first regular passenger service to directly link Europe to Australia and with a 16 hour, 40 minute flight time makes the service the fastest way of travelling between the two countries.

The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner service carried more than 200 passengers and 16 crew on the 236-capacity aircraft in Business, Premium Economy and Economy cabins.

Virgin Atlantic increase West Coast connections

Third Los Angeles connection from Virgin Atlantic and Delta Air Lines

From May 2017 Virgin Atlantic in conjunction with its joint venture partner Delta Air Lines will offer a third daily service between London Heathrow and Los Angeles, creating greater choice of flights for customers during the peak summer travel season.

As part of the joint venture, Virgin Atlantic and Delta will co-locate their operations at across Los Angeles International Airport making connections between flights seamless for customers who want to travel onwards to over 20 Delta destinations, including Mexico, Hawaii and other parts of the U.S.

British Airways announces its longest flight between London and Santiago de Chile

British Airways has announced a brand new direct service between London and Santiago de Chile. Flights will commence on the 3rd January 3rd 2017 and will become the airline’s lengthiest long-haul route, taking 14 hours 40 minutes, nearly an hour more than the current longest flight of 13 hours 50 minutes service to Buenos Aires. The four-a-week flight will be served by the airline’s newest aircraft, the four-cabin Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.
