Qatar Airways launch flights from Cardiff to Doha and beyond

Qatar Airways is to launch a daily flight from Cardiff Airport to its hub in Doha, Qatar, in 2018.  The new service will be the first regular direct long-haul flight linking Wales and South West England to a major global hub in the Gulf region. It will allow business and leisure travellers to fly directly from their local airport via Doha to a choice of over 150 destinations across the globe in Asia, Australasia, Africa and the Middle East. The new service from Cardiff will be the latest addition to a growing network of destinations that Qatar Airways serves across the UK and Ireland.

The North South Divide is Shrinking!

We reported back in April last year that the go ahead had been given on the new high speed Azuma train. With trains now fresh out of production trials have begun between London and Edinburgh, and already journey times have begun to shrink. Last week The new Azuma train shaved 22 minutes off the current journey time. The trial was carried out by train manufacturer Hitachi as part of its testing phase between now and 2018 - which is when they plan to roll out the new 65-strong fleet.

Loganair and British Airways renewed partnership

The two carriers have had a business relationship for more than 25 years. Flybe expands Edinburgh and Aberdeen services to London

From 26th March 2017 Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline will fly brand new services from Aberdeen and Edinburgh to London Heathrow offering a choice of more than 40 scheduled flights a week. Flybe will be using Heathrow’s Terminal 2 and will offer ‘One Stop to the World’ connectivity to its codeshare and interline partners. Norwegian Air launch North American routes from Edinburgh

Norwegian Air have announced they will fly three new low-cost North American routes from Edinburgh Airport in June 2017. The flights will operate daily to Stewart, New York, four times weekly to Providence, Rhode Island and three times weekly to Hartford, Connecticut. The direct long-haul flights will serve smaller US airports to provide customers with truly afforable fares whilst also offering great access to Boston, New York and New England. Norwegian also currently flies from Edinburgh to six destinations: Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm, Barcelona, Tenerife and Malaga.
