West Yorkshire and Greater Manchester set to benefit from improved connectivity with TransPennine Express

People in West Yorkshire and Greater Manchester are set to benefit from improved connectivity, new journey opportunities and enhanced reliability as part of a transformational timetable change by TransPennine Express (TPE) making it even easier to travel to work, or plan a day out with friends or family. 
Part of the Great North Rail Project (GNRP), the changes will come into effect from 20 May 2018 and will see the train company operating six trains an hour across the Pennines between Leeds, Huddersfield and Manchester.

Virgin Trains Welcomes Wills and Wally Their Newest Azuma Sets

After nearly two months at sea, two brand new Azuma train sets arrived from Japan on Wednesday.  Having circumnavigated the globe on the container ship Wallenius Wilhelmsen the two Azuma sets have been affectionately nicknamed Wills and Wally (after the boat they arrived on).  The two five-car sets will be used for platform validation tests on the East Coast Mainline throughout May and June.

Further disruption as French strikes continue

National strike action is due to take place in France from the 1st-2nd June, 3rd-5th June and the 14th June, causing disruption and delays to travel plans.

French air traffic control will work on a reduced capacity for at least 24 hours from tomorrow morning, following similar action since March.

Rail workers in France are also planning to strike from tomorrow, which will lead to severe cuts in national train services. In Paris, Metro and suburban train services will also be reduced, when employees go on strike.
