British Airways JFK Terminal 7 redevelopment for 2018

As part of the JFK Terminal 7 redevelopment, the First Lounge is now closed until summer 2018. Once completed, customers will be able to relax and unwind in a more welcoming environment before flying. Gold card holders can use the Club Lounge in the interim.

British Airways is investing £52 million to provide an improved experience when travelling through New York JFK Terminal 7; the redesign will be completed at the end of 2018.

JFK Terminal 7 improvement delayed

The improvement works to the security area at New York JFK Terminal 7 have been postponed. Work will now begin later in 2017, and this means that customers travelling over the summer will no longer need to allow an extra hour at the airport. New dates will be advised as soon as they are available.

British Airways cabin baggage security requirements

You may be aware that the UK government has issued new security requirements for what items are allowed in cabin baggage. The new requirements apply to forthcoming flights into the UK from one of the following countries: Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and Turkey.

You will not be able to carry laptops, tablets and larger mobile phones in your cabin baggage. Only mobile phones smaller than the following dimensions will be allowed in the cabin: Length: 16cm Width: 9.3cm Depth: 1.5cm.

Virgin Atlantic joins the TSA Pre-check Programme

Virgin Atlantic has become the first UK airline to join the TSA Pre-check programme. Once customers have enrolled in TSA Pre-check they could skip the long security lines and enjoy a faster, easier security screening process when departing from US airports. TSA Pre-check is a US pre-screening initiative that makes risk assessments on customers prior to their arrival at security and the TSA checkpoint, helping to improve their airport experience, while making their travels even more seamless.

All change for Virgin Atlantic, British Airways and EasyJet at Gatwick

Passengers should be aware that Gatwick is preparing for a terminal switch by three major airlines in the New Year. From 25th January 2017, all Virgin Atlantic departures and arrivals will move from the South Terminal to the North Terminal at London Gatwick as part of the airports redevelopment plans. British Airways is moving to the South Terminal, and EasyJet, which operates out of both terminals, will operate from the North Terminal only from January.
