New LNER Hitachi “Azuma” Fleet To Be Installed With State-of-the-Art Wi-Fi

LNER (London North Eastern Railways) have chosen Icomera to deliver Next Generation passenger Wi-Fi on their new “Azuma” fleet of 65 Hitachi intercity Express trains. The project is set to be completed by early 2020.

Icomera will implement its new 5G ready X5 mobile access and applications router on board, meaning LNER passengers will be amongst the first to experience Icomeras new technology.

Revamp for British Airways Gatwick fleet

British Airways are introducing new long-haul seating and layout for the airline’s fleet of ten long-haul aircraft based at Gatwick. The World Traveller Plus cabin on British Airways Boeing 777's will be doubled from 24 to 52 seats, while Club World capacity will be cut from 40 to 32 seats. The new layouts will first appear on routes to Punta Cana, Cancun and Kingston from Winter 2018 then expanded across all 22 long-haul routes from Gatwick.

Emirates has unveiled a brand new Business Class cabin on its newly refurbished Emirates 777-200LR fleet, with new wider seats laid out in a 2-2-2 configuration for the first time. The 38 Business Class seat offers 72 inch seat pitch, moves into a fully flat sleeping position and is two inches wider for a more comfortable journey. It also has touchscreen controls, inflight entertainment system, several personal lighting options, privacy panels between seats, a shoe stowage area, footrest and a personal mini-bar.

Emirates A380-exclusive Melbourne route

Emirates’ will introduce an all-A380 service from 25th March 2018 when it upgrades its third daily flight from Dubai to Melbourne.

The upgrade will add 945 seats a week to the route, representing a 10% increase in capacity and meaning Emirates passengers can enjoy even more seamless “A380 to A380” connections via its hub in Dubai to 18 points in the UK and Europe.

In addition, together with partner airline Qantas’ new B787 London to Melbourne service via Perth, beginning on 24th March 2018, passengers now have even more options from the UK and Europe.
